Affiliate Marketers: Are you Communicating Properly with your SEO Consultant?

You have read up on the importance of SEO, you know where you want your website to rank and for what keywords, and found an SEO consultant that meets your budget for SEO service rates. As far as you are concerned, you are doing everything right.

However, you still are not seeing the results you want – surely it’s time to kick your SEO consultant to the curb and go shopping for a new provider. Well, hold your horses – it may be that you have a communication issue rather than an unsolvable problem.

Have You Made your Priorities Clear?

While you may be certain of what it is that you want from your SEO consultant, they might not know what you want from them. It can be a good idea to detail the results you have been expecting and the areas in which these expectations have not been met.

You can then ask your SEO freelance consultant to explain what needs to be done in order to achieve your goals. What you want may well be possible, but may require more work, and consequently a higher price – if your SEO consultant was under the impression your main priority was sticking to your initial budget they may not have thought to offer an increased level of services.

On the other hand, you may well have unrealistic expectations – it is better to find that out before you waste time getting quotes from new SEO providers!

Do You Listen and Understand their Updates?

Communication is a two-way street. While your SEO consultant has a responsibility to explain their work and the progress that is being made, that is not where the responsibility ends!

You need to actually read these updates and ask for clarification and explanations of anything you do not understand. It may well be your SEO consultant has already tried to make you aware of areas in which your strategy is lacking or could be improved, and you have simply not noticed or have not realized the importance of what they are trying to say!

However, the fault could well be on the part of your SEO consultant. Many business-owners prefer to take a hands-off approach to SEO; so if you want more details and information, try asking for it!

Attempting to improve your communication with your current SEO consultant before you look for new providers is always a good idea. Needless to say, if your SEO consultant will not do their part to ensure you have open and clear communications, kick ‘em to the curb!
